Sheriff Mike Neal wanted to let the public know that the Rhea County Sheriff’s Office has been very busy during the month of March. Rhea County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics along with Detectives and Deputies have made multiple arrests for narcotics violations and served several search warrants throughout March. We have sized $12,642.00 in drug money from these drug dealers that they would use to purchase more illegal drugs that would poison our community. Below is a list of the suspects who were arrested and the assets that were seized during “March Madness”. On March 30th Detectives and Deputies assisted Tennessee Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Officers in a Probation Search of a residence on Idaho Ave in Dayton. While there it was discovered that Cameron Colvin had several pounds of processed marijuana and a handgun. Colvin, a convicted felon is prohibited from possessing a firearm of any kind. A further search revealed a large amount of what appeared to be “Candy Bars”. These “Candy Bars” contain a Schedule I drug Psilocybin which is a hallucinogen. These “Candy Bars” come in various wrappers and colors and have names like “cookies and cream”, “chocolate milk”, “Oreo”. The bar looks like a normal chocolate bar that you would buy off the shelf. Also found was 49 marijuana vape pens that contain very high concentrations of 94% THC, the active drug in marijuana. These vape pens could cause the user to overdose or “green-out” as it is called on the street making them lose consciousness. Colvin also had 11 ounces of marijuana “wax” which also contained high levels of THC. You can see in the photos below that these items are enticing to young adults and teens. If you see anything like this please contact your local law enforcement if you have suspicions about anything like this. Sheriff Neal also contacted our local school administrations for both Rhea County and Dayton City School about these items so that they are aware of this also and are looking for anything suspicious like the items shown. Prior to March 30th Colvin was linked to two incidents in 2021 where juveniles had overdosed on drugs they had purchased from Colvin. One of the juveniles had to be airlifted to Children’s Hospital due to the overdose. Colvin was prosecuted by Rhea County Sheriff’s Detectives after an investigation into the overdoses; he was indicted by a Rhea County Grand Jury for Felony Reckless Endangerment, Possession Sch II (PCP) for Resale, Possession Sch II (Amphetamine) for Resale. He plead guilty to the charge of Possession of Sch II drug with intent for resale in February 2023.
