In the early morning hours of Thursday, December 5th, Deputy Swafford, Deputy Ritchie and K9 Deputy Blondie with the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department and Kyle Argo, Operations Chief with Rhea County Emergency Management assisted TN Highway Patrol, McMinn County Sheriff’s Department and Meigs County Sheriff’s Department in locating and tracking a fugitive that fled on foot after a vehicle pursuit on Highway 30 in McMinn County. Argo located the fugitive via drone and kept eyes on him while Deputies and K9 Blondie tracked in to make the arrest.
Michael Benson of Decatur was arrested and the TN Highway Patrol charged him with two counts of Felony Evading, Misdemeanor Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest and multiple other outstanding warrants including violation of parole
